The Doylestown Food Co-op threw a party at Puck on April 1st - and everybody came!
The 1st Local Live event was a coming together of co-op members, friends, family, and area residents to celebrate local music and local food while raising funds for the establishment of a food co-op in Doylestown. And what a celebration it was. Pictures, menus and thanks follow.
The range of music was incredible, as the participating musicians offered styles to suit all tastes. Faith & Practice kicked it off with a great set of folk, bluegrass, country and more. Seamus Kelleher took over and had the entire crowd singing along as they enjoyed his amazing guitar work. The Lori Rosolowsky Jazz Quintet came on next with a jazzy mix of standards and original compositions. Cherry Lane Band carried on with their horn-infused brand of classic rock. And then The Mango Men took it home, rocking the crowd and sending everyone to Key West in spirit - where every day's a Saturday!
And the food ... chef Michael Kanter took over the Puck kitchen and suddenly we were all in a 5-star restaurant! Check out the menu here. Almost all of the food was sourced from our local farms, as described on the back of the menu.
The event was staffed by a blend of co-op members and volunteers from the Central Bucks East High School National Honor Society. Our thanks go out to Jackie Patterson and all of the students who helped serve the food and kept everything running smoothly.
We also thank Lynn Goldman for donating the Puck venue, and all of the wonderful folks from Puck who worked so hard to make the event a success: Sam, Char, Ferrence, Tim, Andrew, and Mike.
We look forward to making this an annual celebration - even bigger and better in 2013, if that's possible!
