Do you have plans for May 25? I hope your answer is Yes! I hope you are already planning to come to the Doylestown Memorial Day Parade. And hopefully you are also excited about walking in the parade with the group of Co-op members. This is a fun and festive celebration and the Co-op will make its presence known, just like last year. A bunch of members will be marching along with the veterans, firemen, boy scouts, cheer leaders, and local celebrities. Parading with us again this year will be Ed Bennett and his big green farm tractor. You don’t have to be a Co-op Member to join the fun…anyone is welcome to march!
We will be showing the movie Queen of the Sun on June 11, which is about the plight of the honeybees in this country. In honor of this, we have a costume theme this year: “Bee Healthy!” Last year we had two big beautiful apples marching with us (JoAnn Maroney and Cathy Morano). This year we will all be dressed as bees, or anything bee related! That’s right, bees. You don’t have a bee costume hanging in your closet? No problem! Simply wear black and we will provide yellow ribbon sashes to make bee stripes. You can also dress as a flower, since bees need pollen to survive and make honey.
Everyone who is in the parade will need to gather bright and early, behind Central Bucks West High School, between 9:00 and 9:45 am. The parade begins at 10:00 and continues through the borough. If you can join us to march in the parade, please write to Joel Metzger at firstname.lastname@example.org
And here’s a juicy bit of trivia: Doylestown’s parade is the longest continually running Memorial Day parade in the entire country … and we will be marching along with it. You too?
