Members, Customers and Friends of the Doylestown Food Market,
We have had a number of comments and inquiries after the Intelligencer ran a front-page story on our Market and the challenges we face. Briefly, we are making a very positive impact in our community, including almost a million dollars in local product sales since we opened in 2014. But we have yet to become profitable. You can read the original article and our Letter to the Editor response here: http://www.doylestown.coop/help_us_continue_our_mission
People have offered support for our mission, but wondered how they can help; how they can make a difference. So we are sending out these suggestions!
First and foremost, come in and shop! Regularly! If you haven’t been in the Market in a while, we think you will be impressed with improvements we have been making in products and pricing. And there will be more improvements to come!
Next, spread the word! Tell your friends and extended family members. They, too, can have access to clean, fresh, nutritious food and other products, all conveniently provided at our store.
Blog, tweet and share on Facebook your positive experiences at the Market and its importance to local producers and the community.
Get involved! Volunteer in our store. Volunteer on one of our committees. Or volunteer at our events. Our Farm To Table Dinner is coming up on September 17. We have a monthly book club on the second Tuesday of each month. We run three movies at the County Theater each year. And we now run Food Education Talks several times a year. Join in and help put these events on!
Become a member! Everyone is welcome to shop at our Market. Members get several benefits, but the real benefit is being part of the community that makes our Market possible.
Attend our third annual Celebrity Chef Farm To Table Dinner on September 17! If you can't attend, gift two tickets to someone who can't afford to attend! (Contact me if you would like to have us give those tickets to someone in need.) Matt McPhelin, Chef and Owner of Maize in Perkasie is this year’s chef. The evening will be fun and the food delicious! Information and tickets can be found here: http://farmtotable.doylestown.coop/
Make a contribution to help us bridge the gap while we work to achieve profitability. Become a sponsor of the Farm To Table Dinner. Donate an item for our Silent Auction. Or make a contribution at the store. Every little bit helps!
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me. We welcome feedback and new ideas!
Thank you for your interest in and support for our Market! With your help, our mission will continue.
