It was a pleasure to interview the co-op’s eco-system partner of the month, Debra Troy, in her Doylestown office. I marvel at what I learned about the range of talents and skills Debra offers. In addition to a 28 year career as a registered, certified and insured Advanced Clinical Hypnosis Counselor with multiple specialty certifications in areas such as Advanced Pain Relief, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Allergy Relief, Smoking, Preparation for Surgery, Addiction Relapse Prevention, and Fertility Hypnosis, Debra also offers Reflexology, HypnoBirthing® ChildBirth Classes, and most recently, the Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis Program. Whew! If that wasn’t enough, Debra is also an ordained interfaith minister and singer-songwriter.
The foundation of Debra’s work and the umbrella of everything she does, is her own creation derived from a compilation of several applied trainings. Referred to as the Heal the Cause Hypnosis Technique or Troy Method, Debra explains, “I find the trapped emotions that are stuck in the body’s energy system, and the storyline of what was happening when something got stuck emotionally. Once those emotions and thought forms are understood and released [using a variety of modalities], people then feel very free and clear in their bodies, in their emotions, in their minds. [The final step] is applying Future Paced Hypnosis to anchor in the positive changes leaving one feeling strong and healthy, in control, present and conscious, and self loving.” Debra concludes, “This technique can be used for weight loss, smoking, or any habit pattern or negative state of mind that needs to be turned around.”
Newly certified, Debra is now promoting the Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis Program. The creator of the program, a successful hypnotherapist, found she could use hypnosis in a very specific way to simulate a person having gastric band surgery so that they feel they have a golf ball sized pouch in their stomach that limits the amount of food they eat, like surgical Gastric Banding does. As Debra explains, “This program works more directly to get people through the proper mindset to be able to once again tune into when their body switch goes off and says, ‘I’m full’ and then they stop eating.”
When asked what sets her work apart from other services of a similar nature, Debra responded, “I’m a Pit bull when it comes to getting to the cause and healing something at the causal level. People who come see me really want to heal themselves; they won’t bother unless they really want to do the work. I help people create what they want without having subconscious saboteurs kicking around and holding them back. I am known as the subconscious saboteur slayer.“ But there’s also another side of Debra with her work: “I also have a big heart and a very big vessel for supporting people into loving themselves. I’m doing consciousness work on a very deep level. So on one end I’m the warrior princess and on the other end I’m a midwife of souls.”
When asked about what inspires her, Debra responded, “People who come together to seek the highest common denominator for the purpose of working together. People who work for peace – the artists, poets, musicians – those who risk telling the truth at a time when truth is being censured in our culture and in many cultures.” It should be noted that Debra is a cofounder of an intentional community called the Peaceweavers, located in upstate New York at the Thunder Mountain sanctuary and retreat center.
In addition: “What inspires me is music – I’m a singer-songwriter. I write music that inspires people, that lets them know that love and connection and healing the planet is what heals ourselves.”
And finally, “Good organic healthy food inspires me, too. I love to cook; I eat well and I feel so grateful to have access to resources like the co-op and farmers markets. I’m very blessed.”
