Due to the inclement weather expected tomorrow, BCOC will kick-off the 2014 Hope of the Harvest season on Tuesday, May 20th. We will meet at 8:15 am at the Market at Del Val.
Lots of our members had fun last year "getting dirty" for a great cause! Can we convince you to join us as we volunteer in the Hope of the Harvest Charitable Garden at Del Val College? The Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) organizes this wonderful effort: Bringing fresh, nutritious produce directly to our local food pantries, Hope of the Harvest is combating food insecurity in our neighborhoods. You can help by volunteering for a day in the garden; weeding, transplanting, & harvesting are some of the activities. Kick off is Friday May 16th! The group is highly organized this year, with sign-up genius scheduling and the like.
Beginning with one day per week, the group will be going to two days per week later on in the summer.
The Charitable Garden helped all last summer to meet a critical need for fresh food in the emergency food network right here in Bucks County. No experience necessary! Come once or all summer! Depending on the week you volunteer, activities will include: weeding, staking, twining, planting, harvesting, and packing food.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the Food Co-Op to help a local organization…and help us accomplish our mission of getting REAL food to our community.
We meet at 8:45 am in the Del Val market parking lot, and work from 9 am – 11 or 12. You can RSVP directly to Eileen Albillar at BCOC.
