Did you attend the perfect pairing of The Doylestown Food Co-op and Carlow Cookery? Are you booked into the second class for June 3rd that was added after the first class sold-out so quickly? If the answer is no - do not despair! The great news is that we have already booked the next installment of Carlow's Co-op cooking class for July 28th!
Just hours prior to the inaugural class, Denis Chiappa of the Carlow Cookery shopped at the Food Co-op to procure some of the incredibly fresh and mostly local ingredients. Dennis then sautéed, roasted, pureed and simmered these beautiful ingredients into an absolutely delicious meal. The menu consisted of Spring Pea and Mushroom Risotto, Creamy Asparagus Soup, Grilled Vegetable and Mixed Green Salad, Tuscan Salad with White Beans and Wilted Greens and Chiffon Cake with Berries & Cream (all served with wine).
Apologies to all for so few pictures, the food looked and smelled so delicious that our appetite overtook the marketing concern, and we only captured a few of the items before digging-in! Keep an eye out on Facebook and the website for photos from the upcoming (overflow) class on June 3rd.
We hope to have at least one cooking class every other month (although if the popularity continues to soar, we will use the interim month as an overflow for classes that sell-out quickly – in which case there will be a class EVERY MONTH). SO, if you are interested in joining the fun be sure to book early. Be sure to contact Carlow Cookery at (215) 489-2677 to reserve your spots. The kitchen can only accommodate 20 class participants, so the spots have been selling VERY QUICKLY.
Here is the 5-course menu for the upcoming July 28th cooking class:
- Corn and Black Bean Cake with Salsa Cruda
- Farro Salad with Grilled Vegetables and Mint Dressing
- Ricotta and Summer Squash Crepes with Roasted pepper Sauce
- Grilled Pizza with Caramelized Onions, Sauteed Greens and Fontina
- Warm Corn and Potato Salad with Shallot and Cider Dressing
Member Price is $43 / Non-Member price is $50
As before, Denis will be procuring ingredients from the Co-op to help us learn to use all the fabulously fresh, local ingredients on offer at the Food Co-op. Sign up for the next cooking class on July 28th (The Vibrant Flavor of Vegetables) here
