At Fulper Family Farmstead, You Don’t Mess with Fresh

Since Mary Fulper and her one cow came to Lambertville in 1909 the Fulper family has understood the concept of green and clean farming practices before it was even fashionable. Today, the fifth generation of family - and cows – continues to produce fresh dairy products that redefine nutritious and delicious. 

“It starts in the field with high quality soil and grass,” says Breanna Fulper Lundy. “Because, what you put into cows, you get out.”

Every product on the Fulper Family Farmstead begins with extremely fresh milk.  According to Breanna, the cows are milked in the morning and the milk is immediately processed, selling out within 2 weeks. The milk is not homogenized, meaning the cream – or healthy milk fat - rises to the top. 

But milk is only the beginning of many delicious Fulper products such as yogurt, feta cheese, ricotta, mozzarella and cheddar as well as a yummy high-protein mango yogurt smoothie. While most of the products are for immediate consumption, Fulper does offer some aged cheeses as well.

“We are known for our softer, Italian cheeses,” says Breanna, noting that the Fulper’s cheese maker is from Sicily. “Our wholesale customers rave about our Ricotta, Fresh Mozzarella and Feta while the kids love our yogurts.”

The Fulper family over the years has incorporated environmentally friendly technology and techniques to maintain quality and efficiency including a solar renewable energy system and soil conservation methods. But their quality control method is tried and true.

“Every family member tastes the products,” Breanna says. “Everyone has to like it or we don’t make it.”

An exciting addition to the Fulper Family Farmstead was spearheaded by Breanna, who started an agritourism program that includes farm tours, field trips and birthday parties. The farm is available to rent for hosting large and small gatherings or corporate events. For the early birds, there is even a Christmas Morning Milking starting at 4:30 am! Breanna’s passion, however, lies with the Farmstead Adventure Camp program she started 12 years ago.

“We create a real, hands-on farm experience where kids can just be kids, out in the fresh air learning the old-fashioned games we used to play on the farm,” she says.

Fulper Family Farmstead cheese will be available for tasting at Doylestown Food Market on Saturday, September 9 at 11 am and Saturday, September 23 at 10 am. Save 20 percent on Fulper Family Products all month long.
